Attorney Bio


John Ryan is a native of Norfolk, Virginia who began his legal career in 1994 as an assistant city attorney. In 2000, he entered private practice for the former Marcus, Santoro & Kozak firm. He has developed a thriving practice representing businesses and individuals in the courtroom and the boardroom. John worked for more than a decade as a shareholder with our predecessor firm Crowley, Liberatore, Ryan & Brogan, P.C., and he has been listed among the Legal Elite by Virginia Business magazine. John ‘s practice focuses on corporate governance and transition, bankruptcy and financial restructuring, and commercial litigation.

John graduated with a B.A. in History from Dartmouth College in 1990 and received his law degree from The College of William and Mary – Marshall Wythe Law School in 1994. He has served as a board member for the Virginia Stage Company and RISE Resilience Innovation, and he currently serves on the board for the Tidewater Bankruptcy Bar Association.
